It's autumn, which means it's time to put the grill away and bring out the slow cooker. I love slow cooker recipes because they are just so easy and I happen to be just a little bit lazy. What isn't to love about recipes where you just dump in a bunch of ingredients Chopped-style and, a few hours later, get to eat a delicious meal?

Last night I whipped this up with ingredients I legitimately just had chilling in my refrigerator––chilling, get it? Ha. Prep only takes a few minutes and you can double the recipe for next day meals or to take along to a potluck. If you want to go super lazy––and I don't blame you, we've all been there––you could just dump in the chicken and barbeque sauce and leave it at that. But if you want to jazz things up a little, or just use up some of that Worcestershire sauce that has been sitting around for ages, try this recipe.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

2 LBS BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST

1 and 1/4 CUP BBQ SAUCE

1/3 CUP BROWN SUGAR

1/3 CUP ITALIAN DRESSING

1 and 1/2 TBS WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE

PINK HIMALAYAN SALT (OR SEA SALT)

WHAT TO DO

Step One: Lay the chicken breast in your crock pot and sprinkle with salt. I use a pink Himalayan salt grinder and do three twists so that I don't oversalt the chicken.

Step Two: Dump the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Italian dressing, and Worcestershire sauce into a bowl and mix thoroughly. Don't worry about getting the measurements exactly right. If you're in the ballpark, it should turn out fine.

Step Three: Pour the mixture on top of the chicken. Take some tongs––or your hands if you ain't afraid to get dirty––and make sure the chicken is coated in the sauce.

Step Four: Set your slow cooker to LOW for about 6 hours. You could also set it to HIGH for about 3-4 hours. Just make sure your chicken is cooked thoroughly; it will have to be in order to shred it easily.

Step Five: When time is up, take two forks and shred the chicken to your liking. Then continue cooking on low––or even on the warm setting––for 15-30 minutes. This lets the chicken absorb even more of the wonderful flavor.
